Arnolfini, a dynamic contemporary arts organisation of national and international significance which plays a critical role in Bristol's cultural landscape, is seeking to appoint a new Director.
Arnolfini presents innovative, experimental work in the visual arts, performance, dance, film, music and events. Located in its home of 40 years in Bristol's historic docks, it is committed to supporting exceptional artists, creating activities that engage diverse audiences and working to ensure excellence thrives in multi-form transdisciplinary practice. An Arts Council funded NPO organisation, also supported by Bristol City Council, Arnolfini is also nationally recognised for its excellent work with children and young people engaged with schools and outreach activities.
The new Director will be charged with ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of Arnolfini as well as its future significance as a major destination for cultural engagement in Bristol with a national and international reputation. They will develop a strategy that meets the financial and artistic requirements of the organisation over the next decade; manage the level of change which is required to improve financial performance and increase the delivery of more diversified revenue streams.
In the new Director, who will be appointed on a fixed term contract (renewable), the Board seeks candidates with the leadership ability to ensure the longer-term sustainability of this innovative organisation. With an oversight of programming and public engagement in line with the distinctive positioning of the organisation, the new Director will focus on making Arnolfini more commercially oriented and financially viable, developing its capability in terms of fund-raising and income-generation, building strong partnerships across the City of Bristol and deepening the relationship with UWE. They will take on the challenge to bring change, adaptability and forward thinking to an organisation with a great heritage that needs to continue the vision of its founders securing Arnolfini for the 21st century.
