The School of Broadcasting: Call for Participants, Arts Catalyst
As part of Radio Arts Catalyst, Arts Catalyst is excited to launch an opportunity to participate in the School of Broadcasting - an audio-centric space for listening, mapping and transmitting bringing together artists, community organisations and individuals from South Yorkshire and the surrounding area who are interested in exploring the possibilities of broadcasting as a collective practice.
During this six-month peer-led process, the first cohort of participants will be organised into two distinct groups under the guidance of mentoring artists Evan Ifekoya and Resolve Collective. These artists will each offer different sonic routes for participants to explore on the airwaves, through a collective process of researching, organising and creating.
No prior broadcasting experience is required, and participants will receive full practical and technical support from the mentoring artists and Arts Catalyst’s podcast producer. Applicants should ideally be available to attend four sessions overall, taking place online once a month between November 2020 and February 2021, and culminating with a collectively produced sound piece by each group that will be presented on the Radio Arts Catalyst website between March and June 2021. This opportunity is primarily intended for South Yorkshire based residents, community organisers, activists, cultural practitioners and students, with a small allocation of places available for those interested from the rest of the UK.
