The Day the World Came to Huddersfield: The Pride Movement
The Day the World Came to Huddersfield marks a significant culture shift of the Pride movement and celebrates the fact that Huddersfield, historically was the first place outside of London to host a Pride event: something that now happens annually across the globe.
A four-minute film using specially created animation, recovered archive photos, and a few of the new portraits by Ajamu X, was created by Hanging Boots Creative. It was projected from the inside of a vacant high street retail unit onto the front window of 8 New Street (part of the original Pride march route) for the whole of LGBT History Month.
The projections worked well in the unit and then were developed into a five-minute short film that can be viewed online: The video is also available on the LGBT History Month and OUTing The Past YouTube sites.
