Socially Engaged Artist Residency: Ings Library, Hull
Artlink Hull and Hull Libraries are looking to commission an artist to work over a period of six months in Ings in East Hull. The artist will be based in Ings Library and will have a remit to engage with young people (ages between 13-18) in the local area, developing a core young people’s creative group over the period. This group will work with the artist and library staff to redevelop a section of the library into a dedicated young people’s space which will be accessible to the group and other young people beyond the six month period. There are currently limited facilities and services for young people in the area and we aim for this project to make a difference to that in the long term.
The artist will deliver a range of creative engagement activity both on and off the library site over the six months, connecting with young people in clubs, youth provision, schools, colleges, community centres and public space. Both the library service and Artlink have extensive contacts within local communities, schools etc. to help facilitate this. The nature of how the programme of activity and the project is developed is quite open at the moment and we encourage creative ideas from applying artists as to how they would work with young people in the area.
The closing date for applications is 4th November 2019 at 5pm.
