Migration Matters Festival: poetry/spoken word mentorship opps
Creative Journeys is a new mentorship and guidance programme run in association with Migration Matters Festival and Arts on the Run for emerging/aspiring artists whose work is in music, spoken word or dance/physical performance.
The opportunity is exclusively for Northern artists who experience racism and/or with experience of migration, displacement, or the asylum system.
The project will provide expert tuition and guidance and help build confidence and provide networking opportunities with other emerging and established artists. The programme will empower artists who haven’t previously had either the opportunity to develop their craft or had a stage/platform to perform on.
This opportunity will supply artists with:
Cash funding ~£500
~4 sessions delivered by expert mentors lasting ~2 hours
Professional recording of, or a discussion about the artist’s work
Option to perform at Migration Matters Festival in July (9th-17th)
The poetry/spoken word programme will be led by Khadijah Ibrahiim. There are four places for artists based in the north of England. Sessions will be online but there may be scope for them to be in person. For more information about Khadijah and her work go to https://www.migrationmattersfestival.co.uk/opportunities-index
Travel costs will be supported
The sessions will take place on weekdays during the day
A translator/interpreter can be provided if required
