Jodie Whittaker is the 13th Dr Who!
Yet more fantastic news for Huddersfield!
Skelmanthorpe born and former Shelley College and Kirklees College student, actress Jodie Whittaker, has been announced as the 13th Doctor Who and first woman to take the role.
Jodie said being the first woman to play the lead role in Doctor Who felt “incredible”. The actress said: “It feels completely overwhelming, as a feminist, as a woman, as an actor, as a human, as someone who wants to continually push themselves and challenge themselves and not be boxed in by what you’re told you can and can’t be. It feels incredible.” She also reassured fans to “not be scared by my gender.” She added: “This is a really exciting time and Doctor Who represents everything that’s exciting about change. The fans have lived through so many changes and this is only a new, different one, not a fearful one.” (Source: Huddersfield Examiner)
We know she’ll do a great job as she is such a talented and versatile actor.
