Arts & Events Officer - Barnsley Council

This exciting opportunity is a key post within Barnsley’s Culture and Visitor Economy Service as a member of the Arts and Events Team, the post holder will be required to work on the development and delivery of a variety of events ranging from major events such as Tour de Yorkshire to smaller events in the Town Centre or at Barnsley Museum sites; as well as leading on the implementation of the Borough’s public art strategy.

The post holder will be expected to develop and maintain strong internal and external partnerships, generate income to support cultural activity through sponsorship and funding applications and provide professional advice, guidance and information in relation to the effective delivery and management of events as well as the arts and cultural programme, Town Centre Events programme and on public art, sculpture and art in the public realm.

They are looking for a practical, highly motivated and creative individual, who is able to work effectively within a team and can bring a fresh approach to developing and managing multiple complex arts projects, creative programmes and events. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising through grant applications as well as working with communities, internal and external stakeholders and have strong project management skills, logistical expertise and experience of commissioning artists.
