National Lottery Heritage Fund
Lottery distributor has rebranded and launched a much more user friendly website, housing a revised grants programme.
They fund projects that connect people and communities to the national, regional and local heritage of the UK. It’s important to know that the definition of heritage is very broad, and as well as old buildings covers things such as:
oral history
cultural traditions
nature
natural and designed landscapes
community archaeology
collections of objects, books or documents in museums, libraries or archives
histories of people and communities or places and events
the heritage of languages and dialects
They have simplified the funding schemes. You can now apply for a National Lottery Grant for Heritage, which come in three bands:
£3,000 to £10,000
£10,000 to £250,000
£250,000 to £5million
The largest one also includes the Heritage Enterprise Scheme, to bring neglected historic buildings back in to a financially viable use, responding to local economic and social need.
There are no deadlines for the smallest grants; the first quarterly deadline for the others is 5th March 2019.
