Job Description
Touchwood Design produce graphic design solutions for print, exhibitions and visitor centres. Their portfolio also includes magazine and book design and publishing. Clients include National Trust and Dartmoor Magazine.

Touchwood Design have a vacancy for a Junior trainee graphic designer who will complete a Design Apprenticeship with Plymouth College of Art. The successful applicant will demonstrate skills using the adobe suite preferably on the Apple Mac, have a creative flair and an awareness of current design trends. It would be an advantage to have an interest in new media and a willingness to learn more about it and to bring this new discipline to the company.
The apprentice will be working on projects for Touchwood Design and Edgemoor Publishing and will be introduced to all processes of graphic design and publishing. The successful applicant will be articulate and sufficiently confident to represent the company via email, phone and face to face meetings. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone wishing to gain valuable experience for a career within this field.
Whilst in training you will undertake an Apprenticeship in Design with Plymouth College of Art. This will include work based learning alongside taught sessions delivered at the College that will seek to develop your understanding and skills within the sector. The qualification is a Level 2 NVQ in Design Support and a BTEC First Certificate in Art & Design as the Technical Certificate.

Note - Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for 19 to 24 year olds is part funded, with employers expected to make a contribution. Funding for apprentices aged 25 is very limited and employers are expected to make a part or full contribution.
