Free Your Inner Writer
Creative Writing: Free Your Inner Writer with Suzanne Hudson
‘When it is your time to write, write.’ Natalie Goldberg
Have you always wanted to write but rarely put pen to paper?
Do you lack confidence in your ability and feel that you are not ‘good enough’ to be taken seriously as a writer?
Do you write in secret and never show anyone else because you fear what others might think?
Do you feel guilty about taking time out of your busy schedule to allow yourself to write regularly?
If the answer to any of these questions is ‘yes’ and you are ready to free your inner writer, this workshop is ideal for you.
WORKSHOP CONTENT
Through a series of guided exercises, you will explore your feelings about writing, what might be holding you back and how you can begin to silence your inner critic.
By using a range of stimuli, including objects, pictures and writing prompts, you will experience the joy of freewriting and the satisfaction that comes from filling a blank page.
We will discuss the wide-ranging benefits of developing a regular writing practice and share examples of books and websites that can help with this.
You will leave with a renewed sense of yourself as a writer and lots of tips and inspiration to keep writing!
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is for anyone who has an urge to express themselves on paper but needs some support and encouragement to help unlock their creative potential.
You don’t need any previous experience or prior knowledge of creative writing and you won’t need to read your work aloud unless you feel comfortable doing so. Just bring along a notebook, something to write with and the willingness to explore your creativity in a safe and nurturing environment.
It is hoped that this initial session might evolve into a weekly Friday morning workshop for those interested.
‘Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.’ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Creative Arts Hub is a five-minute walk from Mirfield Train Station.
£15 per person - tea, coffee and cake will be provided
