New Visitor Facilities at Coleton Fishacre
2011 sees the start of an exciting year for Coleton Fishacre. The visitor facilities are currently in the throes of renovation as they are smartened up for the new season. These renovations include a newly fitted, bespoke shop in a striking new colour scheme, a new reception area to welcome visitors, and a whole new look for the cafe, which has recently come into the Trusts hands after the sad end of successful 10 year franchise agreement. The new cafe will run with it's hugely popular old menu for the time being, so don't worry about any slip in standards. The biggest change, apart from the decor, is that it will now be run by National Trust staff. So dig out your loyalty card and come down for a coffee once we're open.
The year will also see changes seen in the house, as the consultation period we held during 2010 about future plans for the house comes to an end, and the those plans start to become a reality. So watch this space to see what's happening to the evocative kitchen space of the house, which was seen by visitor for the first time in the 2010 season.
The gardens team are also doing their upmost to keep up to date and fresh, with work going on in the interpretation area known as Seemly hut. There will be new panels going up during the next couple of months with some brilliant photos of the garden during its development and some fascinating snippets of information about how much work goes into keep Coleton Fishacre such a incredibly beautiful garden (and it's got nowt to do with good luck!)
