2015 a top year for Cockington Court
Cockington Court experienced a highly successful year in 2015, seeing thousands of visitors to experience its events, exhibitions and the crafts throughout the year.
The success of the Court is a result of the team’s hard work to share its beauty with local, national and international visitors, complimented by the Court’s growing reputation as a Centre of Excellence for crafts.
Visitors, locals, families and dog walkers alike love the grounds and the entertainment on offer.
Marissa Wakefield, Cockington Court Craft Centre Director, said: “In May, we hosted an event for South Devon’s hoteliers to showcase our crafts makers and what an amazing free day out their guests could enjoy at Cockington. The team and crafts makers here work incredibly hard to continually develop the offering so that it gives people a reason to revisit time and time again.
“The events this year have been sensational, with superb numbers visiting Cockington for Apple Day, our Halloween Festival and Christmas Fayre. The opening of the Visitor Welcome Point has been fantastically well received by all of our visitors. It’s a focal point where we can engage with the public and inform people of everything the Court has to offer.”
Cockington Court was also duly recognised by TripAdvisor with a Certificate of Excellence in 2015. The award celebrates hospitality excellence and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor.
Executive Lead of Tourism, Culture and Harbours, Councillor Nicole Amil, said: “Cockington is a great place located in the heart of Torbay, which is enjoyed by so many. The events bring the community together, showcase our amazing local crafts makers and entertain South Devon’s visitors. All the events have been so busy and the atmosphere has been super.”
Cockington Court was one of several English Riviera attractions that were visited by Cruise Line Shore Excursion Operators, who were impressed with the complete package available to their guests. The Court will be featured in their cruise itinerary, which will boost the number of visitors in years to come.
Following such a successful year, Cockington Court is introducing Food and Craft Markets in 2016, which will take place on the last Sunday of each month between April and September. The makers’ unique, handmade crafts will be complemented by fresh, locally farmed produce.
