Sarah is dedicated to becoming a ballet dancer. She is sixteen, and the most talented dancer at her dancer-school. At home, Sarah is struggling; her mother, Marie, is blind. For Sarah, her mother's lack of sight is a burden as it means Marie will never be able to watch her dance.
When Sarah is cast in the main role in her dance school's annual production, her frustration with her mother's blindness expands the rift that has grown between them. Can the two women gain understanding for each other and repair their broken bond?
