Lucy Marguerite Frobisher Exhibition, Her Art and Legacy

Just opened as of the 19th October 2024 and running until the 13th April 2025 we have an exhibition of the life and work of Lucy Marguerite Frobisher. She was an Artist and educator specialising in animal painting. She studied at the Bushey School of Painting becoming the secretary of the school and life long companion of the schools founder Lucy Kemp-Welch. A wonderful eccentric and colourful character who [ with her parrot ] were well known in the village. In 1928 Marguerite Frobisher took over the Bushey School of Painting and renamed it the Frobisher School of Painting. This school continues to this day in the original studio, which is now re-positioned behind our Museum. She worked in oil and watercolour and her paintings of nature ,flowers and dogs are beautifully executed and evocative of the time.
