Apprenticeship opportunity at Brixham Theatre
Apprenticeship for a Young Person at Brixham Theatre
BATS (Brixham Arts & Theatre Society Ltd) are offering an apprenticeship for a young person, in partnership with Exeter College, starting from September 2014.
This will be primarily a Technical Apprenticeship, working alongside the Theatre Technical Manager, but you would also undertake many other roles in order to gain a full understanding of how a Theatre actually works and the team work involved.
This will mean working in Marketing, Box Office, Programming shows, Stewarding, Stage Managing and liaising with companies coming in. There will also be the opportunity to work with other companies and arts groups, and attend Exeter College once a month.
By the end of the year you would be expected to be able to take responsibility for all aspects of running a particular show on your own.
Brixham Theatre is at a very interesting stage of major development, with a growing programme of both community and professional events and plans underway for major fund raising to completely change the auditorium and prepare a Lottery bid for building works, so it will be an exciting time to see how a Theatre development plan is put together.
Anyone who is interested in an apprenticeship will be expected to first become a member of BATS (Brixham Arts & Theatre Society - the company that runs the Theatre), which costs £10 a year and gives you insurance cover, as well as information on the programme and Members discounts on tickets and social events. Application forms are available in the Town Hall entrance and at the Theatre Box Office. You would then act as a volunteer on some of the shows to gain a first hand understanding of how the Theatre operates on a voluntary basis.
If you are interested in applying for the Apprenticeship please send your CV, (as a PDF document) to batsweb.org.uk or come in and see us. We open a drop in ‘Room with a Brew’ cafe on Saturday mornings (10 – 12 am) at the Theatre.
