Bodens College of Performing Arts
Established in 1973, Bodens has provided different levels of training in the performing arts for over ten thousand young people. Many have continued their education at Central School of Speech and Drama, RADA, Mountview, Guildhall, Royal Academy, LAMDA and East 15. We have Alumni working successfully throughout the industry all over the world. We are now opening a full time college for young people aged 16-19 years.
Over the two years, all our students undertake a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts, consisting of eighteen units selected to give them a strong foundation in all aspects and areas of the arts. This qualification is equivalent to three A-levels.
The classes provide an important grounding in acting for stage and screen, dance, movement, singing and musical theatre. There are many opportunities to perform a variety of styles and roles, in plays and musicals; inside the Scaffold Theatre, theatres further afield, to children in local schools as part of your Theatre in education unit, and to people within the local community. We also provide opportunities in house to gain experience working with young people in our classes, and offer work experience placements throughout the course within the industry, both in theatre and television.
Attached to one of the largest part-time performing arts schools in the country, there are plenty of chances to work as an assistant facilitator, as a member of our youth-led council on fund-raising or marketing, or behind the scenes on the technical side of production in sound, lighting or design.
