Bettina Edith Schroeder Conceptual artist
I am a conceptual artist/sculptor with a background in textiles and fashion, which is reflected in the techniques I use in my work.
I work mainly with textile materials in the broadest sense, including metals, plastics, latex and plaster, to create pieces which often combine a traditional aspect with a more experimental element.
The inspiration for my work comes mainly from human conditions and emotions such as happiness, longing, nostalgia, identity and otherness, hopes and wishes, psychology and explorations of the mind. I also have a close interest in human anatomy and often use parts of the human body as metaphor for psychological states and emotions.
Past topics have included alcohol abuse and death, the pursuit of happiness, the need to travel, encounters and the human spine.
