We Love Laura
The fabulous History Wardrobe puts the spotlight on fashion icon Laura Ashley on Sunday, 5 May, in the first of two presentations it will be doing in the coming months at Bagshaw Museum in Batley.
Laura Ashley’s most famous fashions are the nostalgic gowns of the 1970s that were inspired by dresses from the 18th and 19th Centuries.
Dress history specialist Lucy Adlington will compare antique originals with Laura Ashley clothes from the 1960s to present day. And she will look at Laura Ashley’s entrepreneurial spirit, her enduring appeal and why women still love Laura Ashley.
‘We Love Laura’ starts at 2pm and admission is £12.50 per person. Advance booking is essential as History Wardrobe presentations are extremely popular. Places can be booked at Bagshaw Museum, Wilton Park, Batley, or by telephoning 01924 324765.
The History Wardrobe will be doing a ‘Wish You Were Here’ presentation on Sunday, 8 September. It is inspired by Bagshaw Museum’s seaside gallery and will cover 200 years of seaside fashion.
