Anna-Marya Tompa Fine Art, Photography, Performance, Tutor
My original degree was in English and Russian, topped up with a BA in Fine Art as a mature student at the University of Hertfordshire. I did my MA at Camberwell College of Art with TrAIN.
In my Fine Art practice I am interested in anything and everything ephemeral, photography is a medium in which to capture this ... or not.
Less concerned with the material outcome than with the process I also use elements of performance. In the last couple of years I have explored performance more in depth, participating in London and Cornwall with Liminal Bodies, curated by Poppy Jackson, and also was a participant at the Cyprus International Performance Art Festival, as part of PAS#30 with Johannes Deimling. In the past I worked in improvised theatre as part of Splinter Group Mime; I return to the NorthEast to dance with Elemental Movements to celebrate the earth seasons.
More locally, I am a founder member of the Watford Recycling Arts Project. I have contributed to the setting up and running of WatfordLIVE! community arts festival.
I run workshops in the Hertfordshire area, most recently at Sunnyside Food Garden in Hemel Hempstead with Chris Wilson and looking to participate in a Repair Shop there in February 2014. I used to be an Arts Associate for Dacorum Arts and Leisure.
I'm currently helping with Nysa's Trim Tots puppet showcase project.
