Book of Misery

This pretty book has pewter pages and is bound with pink ribbon. The pages are decorated with song lyrics. The lyrics are from songs that sound happy with an up-beat tempo but there is an under-tone of violence or other form of severe mental un-comfort once these words are said without being in that up-beat context. This piece is a stark eye opener to the reality of what we will absorb sus-consciously and repeat without batting an eyelid. "Scissor-shaped across the bed, you are red, violent red. You hollow out my hungry eyes." What would be going through your mind if a stranger spoke that to you on a bus?...
