Vienna Cycle is Russ Bray & Steve Taylor.

Dear enemies and friends, We've been dragging this forlorn but infinitely noisy musical horse-and-cart around for three years now.

In late Summer 2006, two of us (Russ and former bandmate and co-founder Luke) began working together on songs with a view to starting a full band. Since there were only two of us we built up a performable set quite quickly - people started offering us gigs and, since we were keen to get out and play, we took them. We played about four shows under the prosaic moniker of: Russ Bray and Luke Bond, with bassist friend Steve Taylor before realising that we needed a 'proper' band name. After little or no forethought we settled for the un-evocative and wholly meaningless: Memo, a name under which we performed for a couple of years at pubs, clubs and festivals, won an Artsbase award and released a self produced demo Ep before finally settling on the name Vienna Cycle in April 09.

All too aware of our unwillingness to compromise our naïve and inarticulate vision for the band, we found it difficult to find the 'right' people, almost giving up several times and opting for electronic backing (drum machines don't argue). We are looking for a suitable drummer however, as well as string players...

At present we hide hermit-like in our converted basement room studio, working on a collection of recordings with a view to expand the band (musicians looking for projects? Get in touch!) and return to performing live, electric or acoustic.

Between us, we have been performing in bands for many years, having featured in various bands, including; Numb, Mad Hatter, Zenn, Plastercast, Memo (together) & now, Vienna Cycle. We are currently on somewhat of a hiatus while Russ awaits the arrival of his son in January '10 and are now putting the feelers out to find a varied pool of musicians to work with in the new year as part of our next musical incarnation...
