Culture: Living well

Culture: Living well

Join in the inaugural Torbay Culture Forum event and explore the role of culture in health and wellbeing…
Meet members of the new Torbay Culture Board, hear about exciting work in Torbay and beyond, create new connections, plan projects and make your contribution to Enjoy, talk, do, be.

In the morning…
There'll be a welcome to the day from event facilitator Katie Venner, cultural strategy context setting and introductions, followed by a health sector overview from Dr Derek Greatorex, Interim Chief Clinical Officer of South Devon and Torbay Clinical Commissioning Group. Ruth Ben-Tovim will give an update on Torbay’s Ageing Well project, Dr Dan Bloomfield from the University of Exeter will talk about mainstreaming the prescription of nature to improve wellbeing and Lisa Tregale of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra will present their work using music with people living with dementia and their families. After refreshments there'll be the opportunity for reflective discussion and the morning will end with an update and next steps information about Enjoy, talk, do, be.

In the afternoon…
After a networking lunch, there'll be four short project presentations, selected from an open call; facilitated round table talks to devise collaborative cultural projects with health and wellbeing at their core; a feedback session for project plans and pledges of support; and wrap up reflections on how Enjoy, talk, do, be supports Living Well from Gerry Cadogan, Torbay Council Peninsula Public Health Network lead.

The event ends at 4 pm with opportunities for further networking.
