Terms and conditions and top tips

Briefly: Anyone messing about, hassling, posting up disruptive content or personal info, or pedalling racist, homophobic, sexist, or dodgy content can be expected to be booted off without appeal. (Both from the forum and the main site) The views expressed on these boards are those of the individual user and not those of Creative Torbay.

Please read the forums for a while before posting: Use the 'search' function to see if your topic has already been discussed to save repeating questions/threads that already exist.
Before you post please ask yourself the following question: "Am I making a post which is funny, informative, or interesting on any level? "Before you reply: please ask yourself the following question: "Does my reply offer any significant advice or help contribute to the conversation in any fashion?"
Posts containing nothing more than links to websites or video files are not permitted. Please explain the nature and relevance of the linked content as a courtesy to users. Do not post up huge reams of cut and paste text, but make things easier for others by summarising the article and including a link to the unabridged version.
Libel/defamation. There are civil and criminal laws against certain forms of speech like libel, defamation of character, harassment and threats. Please contact us if you see any such content. It is the prerogative of any poster who feels any laws have been violated to pursue legal action. Posters are responsible for what they post, and should realise there may be serious consequences for illegal behaviour.
Trolling/direct linking. Do not directly link to 'hostile' websites (leave gaps in the URL if you wish to refer to them). Anyone found posting up malicious links on other sites and/or trying to stir up 'board wars' will be banned. Persistently disruptive posters will be banned. Repeated efforts to derail the debate could result in forum access termination. Multiple identities are not allowed.
We're happy to host lively and robust debate but racists, bullies, sexist oafs, bigots and general all-round irritating posters are not welcome on these boards. Over the top swearing, endless personal attacks and needlessly disruptive conduct is not permitted and posters who continue such behaviour after being asked to stop will be banned. Threads that descend into personal insult-a-thons will be binned.
Gore/shock-fest/explicit pics and porn are unacceptable, and embedded images must not be over 75k (otherwise the board grinds to a halt for those using dial-up connections). You can check an image's size by right clicking on the image and selecting 'properties'. If you wish to refer to a large image, write a short description and link to the image, including a reference to the full image size if possible. Please respect copyright.
Privacy Please respect people's privacy and refrain from posting up any personal details without their permission. Remember that anyone can read these boards so never give out any personal details you're uncomfortable sharing with the world and never take people at face value: there's some right dodgy types out there. Please notify the mods if you are being hassled. Do not piss about with user names or refer to people by their real names (unless they already appear in their user name, of course).
Unlike some other boards, the use of multiple usernames by the same person is not allowed on creativetorbay
'Report this post' option. This is your way of helping the moderators turf out troublesome posters/trollsters and advertisers. Please do not use it for anything other than posts that clearly break the rules listed here. If a post or thread disappears, DO NOT start a thread asking why. Please do not act on the behalf of others and complain about comments aimed at other users who are active in the thread. It is up to them to decide whether they are offended or not (however, if the post breaks the FAQ and/or is racist/defamatory etc., then it is appropriate to do so).

Reporting posts for fun/as a wind up etc. Don't do it please. Ever

Links to Third Party Sites. This forum may contain links to many third party sites. Posting Images - Go to Google or wherever, get your image, right-click on it, select 'properties' and then copy the full address in the 'location' field (it'll look like 'http://www.whatever.com/...').. Then, in the 'reply to post' box on the forum, click on the IMG box in the forum reply page, and then hold down the Ctrl key and then press the V key to copy the image's address into the box.
Unfortunately conflict and bullying are found online - this website (link below) is good at helping you deal with anything of this nature.
