Francesca Wyllie BA (Hons) Fine Art
Artists Statement - Francesca Wyllie
My primary area of interest began with sculpting in steel. I was introduced to blacksmithing and metal working techniques whilst studying for a degree in sculpture in the late 80‘s. Over the years my work has developed to include other metals and materials such as glass, mosaic, cement and wire. I now spend most of my time painting in oils and acrylics.
Recent paintings and drawings have been inspired by travels to Morocco, Andalucia in Spain and the Dordogne region of France as well as closer to home in the areas around Torbay and the South Hams.
Many sculpture projects have been influenced by a love of plants, trees, organic forms, animals, people, stories, my own drawings and random ideas. When starting a new sculpture I am often unaware of where it will lead. The making process causes accidental elements to influence the direction of the piece and if not resolved often creates the drive to make the next sculpture.
I have found that often people prefer their own interpretations of my work, and feel strongly that the viewer should be encouraged to feel included in the creative process, - once made, the work is no longer my own.
Life Drawing / Painting and Drawing Tuition
Life Drawing tuition - I am an experienced teacher and am available for private tuition or tuition for schools and colleges. Examples of my life drawings can be seen on my website, and I was given an 'outstanding' report for my adult classes recently. Experienced models are provided.
Painting and Drawing tuition - available for small groups or individuals on request.
I am currently renovating a property for painting holidays in Andalucia, Spain where I and other tutors will be running Arts courses, so watch this space!
All levels welcome.
Some of my ex-students from Brixham ACL have also started a Life Drawing group in Galmpton which I am now attending (but not to teach). Do get in touch if you would like any more information.
