Inspired by the amazing Devon coast and countryside, my source material is gathered with visual stimulation from the richness and splendour of our countryside or waterscapes and particularly emotive world-wide vistas by plein-air sketching and supporting photography. Whether it is the intensity of iridescent light on water, the sensation of textures that demand touch, a shaft of light through a break in the clouds or the wildness of our moors enveloped in dramatic climatic conditions, the dynamic but unpredictable nature of watercolour provides the spontaneity to capture these fleeting, atmospheric moments in time. I love to mix the media and techniques in order to achieve a desired effect or encapsulate an explosion of emotion or memory. I am also having fun with print-making too.

Watching paint dry! Boring? Never!! I love it - watching watercolour mix the magic on paper is a fascinating fusion and a wonderful knee-weakening experience.

I enjoy exhibiting and am proud to be the current Chairman of Devon Art Society. I have had work accepted for Art Liberating Lives at the Mall Galleries, London; South West Acadamy of Fine and Applied Art; Torbay Hospital Gallery; Harbour House, Kingsbridge; Devon Art Society, Torbay Guild of Artists, Totnes and Teignmouth Art Society; TAAG, Teignmouth and Birdwood House. In 2012 I still have several exhibitions to enter.

I love sharing the experience of creating art with others and trialed a Guidelines to Art painting kit in Torbay for the SAA (Society for all Artists). This has been a fantastic success and a privilege, providing immense enjoyment and building self-esteem. I also love to paint animals and have already had several commissions for my Pet Pawtraits.
