Nestled in the South Downs, Charleston was from 1916 the home of artists Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant and their unconventional household. Pioneers of early 20th Century British art, Bell and Grant created a hub of artistic and intellectual activity at Charleston and brought their daring and unrestrained approach to art and life to bear on the very fabric of the house.
Charleston in now considered to be one of the world's best small museums and continues to celebrate the legacy of Bell and Grant with a full and varied programme of workshops, events and festivals.
