"Torquay's coolest gift shop" , ‘ A Kick Up The Arts’ is the vintage & retro inspired shop & studio of Mark & Sarah Bell based in Torquay Devon.

Located in the harbour area - by the Agatha Christie statue at 5, Palk Street, Torquay TQ2 5EL - the shop is open Weds - Sunday 10.30 - 4.30

A Kick Up The Arts aims to dispel the myth that art is elitist by offering accessible, affordable and highly original one off pieces mostly produced by Mark Bell but with pieces by other makers and artists also available.

Much of the featured work is based on the colourful world of circus, cabaret and burlesque but we are able to offer striking portraits and commissioned pieces too.

We sell vibrant arts, quirky crafts, amazing accessories, funky homewares and selected repro and vintage clothing - we also sell chilli chocolate & ravishing relishes - 80% of our shop has been made or designed by people who run small businesses within a 50 mile radius!

We use old furniture such as chairs, tables and bars and give them a whole new lease of life in a completely unique way so the new owners have a totally original piece of art that has a place in their home but isn't stuck on a wall - it's more interactive and usable. But we don not do 'shabby chic' - our work is for bold individuals!

Reinforced by a strong web presence, widespread media coverage, targeted marketing and a varied database of artists and makers, ‘A Kick Up The Arts’ is an exciting hub showcasing a diverse range of contemporary arts, vintage & quirky home wares, retro inspired accessories and many other eclectic goodies, ‘A Kick Up The Arts’ reflects innovation and creativity and offer a vibrant space for customers to shop.
